Spring is here! The gift for enduring the cold temperatures and weather that winter shares each year is on the horizon. It’s a time of year many of us look forward to for the warmer weather, longer days, and ability to get outside and engage in activities like golf, tennis, baseball, or even a long walk along the beach.
There is one group of enthusiasts who especially look forward to spring; our car enthusiasts! We will begin to see the return of “Summer Cars” to our roads and car Shows around the state. Just like scheduling a service or tune up for those cars, this is a good time to review the insurance coverage on the vehicle, and speak with your insurance agent about a classic auto insurance policy.
Classic auto insurance offers policy holders key benefits for their prized vehicles compared to the standard auto insurance policy. Classic auto policies offer lower premiums, and provide stated amount coverage. There are very specific requirements that need to be met for a vehicle to qualify for classic auto insurance. Those requirements include:
- Age of the vehicle: Typically the vehicle must be 15 years or older
- Usage: The classic auto must not be your vehicle for daily usage; some policies provide plans for specified mileage and exclusions for race use.
- Storage: Most classic auto carriers required the vehicle to be stored in a locked garage or storage facility.
- Companies will require photos of the vehicle to verify condition, mileage and proper storage before the policy is approved.
